Gary Pinkel gets raise to $3.1M

Missouri has rewarded Gary Pinkel by making him the latest Southeastern Conference coach to join the $3 million club.
Pinkel, who led the Tigers to the SEC championship game last season, has agreed to an amended contract that will pay him $3.1 annually. His deal runs through the 2020 season. He was previously at $2.8 million a year.
'I'm very honored and proud to be the coach at Mizzou, and I appreciate the opportunity,' said Pinkel in a statement. 'We will work very hard to continue to build our program and to graduate our players. It's important for our program to keep moving forward and build on a solid foundation. I'm pleased that my assistant coaches continue to get recognized for the work they do. We are fortunate to have a great staff at Mizzou.'
One of the most important facets about Pinkel's new agreement and something he'd voiced concern about previously is that he's getting more money for his assistants.dining table Their salary pool is growing from $2.66 million to $3.2 million. That includes $50,000 raises for both offensive coordinator Josh Henson and defensive coordinator Dave Steckel.
'It is important for us to be able to recognize what Gary and his staff have achieved for the University of Missouri,' athletic director Mike Alden said in a release. 'We're very grateful to the Board of Curators and University leadership for their support of our program, which is among the best in the nation both academically and competitively.'
The 61-year-old Pinkel has a career record of 102-63 in 13 seasons at Missouri. He surpassed Don Faurot last season as the school's winningest coach.
From a financial standpoint, the SEC is clearly the place to be if you're a head football coach.
With Pinkel getting his bump, 11 of the 14 coaches in the conference are making $3 million or more per year.dining table
The Tigers finished 12-1 last season, winning the conference's East Division with a 7-1 mark in just their second year in the SEC. After falling to Auburn in the SEC title game, the Tigers beat Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl and finished with a No.dining table 5 ranking in the polls.
Before the 2012 season, Pinkel had directed Missouri to seven consecutive bowl games and hadn't had a losing season since 2004.dining table

How to Repeat YouTube Videos Automatically

Did You Know?According to YouTube, 100 hours of videos are uploaded to the website every minute.YouTube has recently tweaked its design and added the much-awaited Playlist tab, where one can find relevant videos alongside the changes made in the Comments section.
However, the popular demand of the 'repeat' option was not considered even this time around. Here are a few tools that will help you to repeat your videos in a loop.
Change the URL
Google Developers have provided the most reliable method to loop YouTube videos. All you need to do, is to make changes to the original URL and your videos will play repeatedly. The 'loop' and the 'playlist' parameters should be added to the URL for this purpose. Here are the steps that you need to follow:
▶ Search and open the desired video on YouTube.
▶ Now, in its URL you need to delete the watch? parameter and replace v= by v/.
▶ Next, append &loop=1&playlist=video_id after the version parameter.
▶ After these changes, the video URL will change to www.youtube.com/v/VIDEO_ID?version=3&loop=1&playlist=VIDEO_ID.dining table
▶ Now, hit enter to watch the video in repeat mode.
If you are making these changes for playing videos from custom playlist, the player will first play the entire videos listed in the playlist and then restart from the first video. However, you need to note that this option only works in the AS3 player.
Third-party Tools
However, if you are not well-versed in computers, there are third-party tools available for the said purpose, to simplify things. In all the tools mentioned below, you can search the relevant video in the service provider's search boxes, and click on the play option to continuously watch the video.
ListenOnRepeat
When you open a particular video on YouTube, you can replace the word 'youtube' with 'listenonrepeat'. Once you press enter, you will be redirected to the ListenOnRepeat page, where your video will play in infinite loop. This tool has a repeat counter on its homepage, where you can see the number of times a particular video is repeated. If you are using an Android device, you can download this app, and enjoy continuous video viewing.dining table
InfiniteLooper
The most appealing feature of this tool, is its bookmark option. Once you land on the tool's homepage, you will find the 'Drag the Bookmark box to your toolbar' option. Upon performing this action, you will see a 'Loop Video' link bookmarked. Once you find your favorite video on YouTube, you simply need to select this bookmark, and viola! Your video will play infinitely until you close the page.
YouTube On Repeat
Similar to the other tools mentioned in this article, this third-party service too has a search box where all your favorite videos are available. However, you can drag the 'Repeat Button' (available on the service provider's homepage) to your bookmarks. Now, if you watch any video on YouTube, and press this button, you will be redirected to Youtube On Repeat, where the same video will play continuously.
LoopTube HD - Autoplay YouTube Videos in a Loop
You can download this free app from iTunes. This app has a search box, where you can search YouTube videos. In case you want to repeat a single video, then tap the Heart button. You can also add videos to a playlist, and play them in a loop.
Thus, even though YouTube has overlooked the repeat option in its latest design tweak, you can still enjoy the service by using external tools.dining table However, lets hope the video database giant does incorporate this option in future. Till then, you will need to take the extra efforts of switching to another website to enjoy the service.

Peterson: Vick is key to playoffs

MINNEAPOLIS -- As the Minnesota Vikings head into free agency in search of a veteran quarterback, their franchise player has an idea about what they should do next.
Running back Adrian Peterson is interested in the team bringing Michael Vick to Minnesota to be the team's starter. The 2012 NFL MVP tweeted his thoughts Wednesday night.
@MikeVick would intently make the vikings a playoff team!dining room furniture
Vick, who will turn 34 in June, started just six games for the Philadelphia Eagles last season before losing his job to Nick Foles after a hamstring injury. Vick hasn't started more than 13 games in a season since 2006, and it wouldn't seem like he is the best fit for new offensive coordinator Norv Turner's offense.
But considering the Vikings' quarterback situation, it's difficult to rule anything out.
Christian Ponder is the only Vikings quarterback under contract, after Matt Cassel opted out of his 2014 contract in February. Josh Freeman, whom the Vikings signed to a one-year, $2 million deal and used in one game last season, also is a free agent.
Vick might be one of the more credible options in a thin free-agent market that includes Josh McCown and David Garrard in addition to Cassel and Freeman.
Appearing on ESPN Radio's 'The Herd' Thursday, Vikings general manager Rick Spielman said that due to tampering rules he wasn't allowed to comment on Vick. But he said when adding high-profile players, the Vikings examine how they would affect the team's culture.
Vikings GM Rick Spielman talks about the impact of social media, Adrian Peterson's remarks regarding Michael Vick, Minnesota's QB situation and more.
'When Brett Favre was here it became a real media attention grabber, but we ended up getting to the NFC Championship Game,' he said. 'A lot of it has to do with how the coaches feel about it. Do you want the distractions?dining table Is your team mature enough to handle the distractions? It's always going to come down to: Can you handle it and is he going to help you win ballgames?'
The Eagles signed Vick in 2009, after he had served his 21-month federal prison sentence and was reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The move was controversial among fans who objected to Vick's dogfighting activities and also because the Eagles already had Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb on their roster.
Vick played sparingly in 2009.dining table In 2010, after the Eagles had traded McNabb to Washington, Vick took over the starting job when Kolb was sidelined by a concussion. Vick played some of the best football of his career that season, leading the Eagles to a playoff berth. He was rewarded with a long-term contract but was plagued by injuries (missing nine of 32 games) and interceptions (24) in 2011 and 2012.
In his career, including his six seasons with Atlanta, Vick has played in all 16 games only once, in 2006.
ESPN.com Eagles reporter Phil Sheridan contributed to this report.

TOKYO Aug 21 (Reuters) - John Verdon was 65 and retired,
reading a lot of detective stories and talking about them with
his wife, when one day she suggested he write one himself.
He took her up on the challenge, and Dave Gurney - a retired
New York City homicide investigator just beginning his new life
when mysterious letters start arriving - was born. The book was snapped up by a publisher and came out in 2010
to rave reviews, and Gurney's adventures have continued with two
more books, the latest - 'Let the Devil Sleep' - just out.Verdon, a former advertising executive who retired at 53 and
turned to furniture making before writing, said he has been
surprised and pleased by the results.'When I wrote the first book I didn't even imagine it would
be published. I had the time to do it, my wife encouraged me to
do it, and I wrote the first one hoping she'd like it,' he said,
noting that the suggestion for more came from his agent.'From that point on I think it kind of took hold of me,
because during the course of finishing the first book I'd become
close to and interested in the characters. So the idea of
putting them in new situations and being with them again felt
comfortable to me.'As the new book starts, Dave has fallen into a depression as
the result of injuries suffered in his previous escapade, but
the reappearance of a serial killer after a decade gradually
rouses him to action.Verdon, who said he'd always wanted to write but thought
advertising was the only way he could write and make a living,
said that one of the challenges of carrying on with a series is
working to keep the reader interested.'I've read both types of series - series about characters
that don't seem to change at all, and then I've read others in
which you grow old with the character and you watch their kids
grow up and all that,' he said.'I think they have to change and I think that mechanism for
change comes from the fairly horrendous things that happen
toward the end of each book.'When I started writing the third book, one of the things I
had to deal with was to imagine: okay, here's a guy who's been
shot three times a few months ago, where does that leave him?'Despite bringing out a book a year, Verdon said he doesn't
rely on a detailed outline but rather scribbles ideas down on
index cards whenever and wherever inspiration strikes.'I have two ballpoint pens in my pocket because God forbid I
should be making a note and one of them should run out of ink. I
have two pens and have a dozen index cards in the pocket of my
shirt every day,' he said.Verdon then stuffs the cards in a manila envelope until the
envelope starts to burst, at which point he takes out the cards,
usually by then numbering four or five hundred, and arranges
them on his dining room table until he starts to have a
structure of acts and then of scenes.'Eventually I sit down at the computer and start actually
turning it into something that looks like a novel,' Verdon said,
noting that he is a 'careful' worker who usually writes around
two pages a day.His advice for aspiring writers is simple: don't wait until
you're 65 to start, the way he did, and stick with it.'Over the years, when I was in the advertising business, I'd
start a novel and I never got more than 50 pages into it before
I lost interest,' he said. 'So once you start it, finish it.'

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Nicholas Kennedy was in a rush to sell his condo in Sherman Oaks, California. He and his wife have a 3-month-old girl, and the couple wanted to be close to their families in the Dallas, Texas area.
So they met with area real estate agent Ben Salem about quickly offloading their 4-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath unit. Salem had some conventional suggestions - and one that surprised them.'He talked about the open house, the postcards to send out, and the YouTube video,' recalls Kennedy.YouTube? Isn't that normally the realm of music videos and dancing hamsters?'I had never heard of it before for selling a house,' Kennedy says. 'But it drove more traffic to our online listing.'Kennedy is convinced the 100-second video (a montage of still shots backed by flute-and-guitar music) helped sell his house in less than a week, for $560,000, some $25,000 above the asking price.Using a YouTube video to sell a home isn't yet widespread, statistics show. Only 4 percent of real estate agents post videos on hosting sites such as YouTube, according to the National Association of Realtors' (NAR) 2012 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers. That inches up for official real estate listing sites, where 14 percent of agents advertise with videos. But buyers flock to videos. About 90 percent of buyers use the Internet to search for homes, says NAR spokesman Walter Molony. Of those, 21 percent said they utilize or look for online videos.'More than 80 percent of all buyers now find their home online, so when you have a YouTube video that comes up on Realtor.com, that's huge,' said Salem, Kennedy's agent with Rodeo Realty in Beverly Hills.dining room furniture 'The best part is that you're one click away from showing it to the whole world.'Sohail Salahuddin of Jameson Sotheby's International Realty in Chicago has been using videos to sell homes for two years. One of Salahuddin's listings that closed in April was snapped up by an eager buyer from Jordan just hours after it appeared on YouTube, even before it appeared on the Multiple Listing Service, he said. Here are tips for videos that will showcase homes and prompt quick sales.1) Hire a professional videographerSalem does not rule out shooting the video yourself but warns that glitches, from bad lighting to shaky camerawork, usually make buyers wish they'd hired a videographer. For the $300 to $700 you might pay in Los Angeles, for example, you'll get all the editing and shooting you need, plus a domain name for selling the video online.'It's an investment,' says Salem. If you produce it yourself, avoid smartphone videos as they'll almost always look amateurish unless you have a rolling camera mount or proper tripod. Consider calling an expert to edit your footage seamlessly.2) Keep it briefBuyers looking at hundreds of properties don't have lots of time, says Salem. Highlight only the best features of the home.'It's got to be two minutes max,' Salem says.It doesn't hurt to add some narration and subtitles to help viewers along, said Salahuddin, though it's not required.3) Remember your original 'wow' factorA video should highlight unusual details, says Salem.'You need to ask yourself, 'Why did I buy this home and what first stood out to me?' If it's a sweeping staircase with the wainscoting, a fire pit in the backyard, or a beach-entry pool, that's huge,' Salem says. 'Everyone else starts with the kitchen and the master bedroom, but you don't want to do that' - unless of course, the kitchen and master bedroom are 'wow' places in your home. Otherwise, save them for later in the video.4) Lighting, lighting, lightingThese three 'Ls' prove more essential than 'location.' Utilize natural light, rather than artificial lighting, whenever possible.During the 'magic hour' of late afternoon, sunlight is softer and hits surfaces in a naturally flattering way.5) RestagingRepainting can cost $150 or more, but certain colors make walls pop out in a shoot; Salem says Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter, a faint gray that picks up light, looks especially great in videos against a light crown molding.Leave enough furniture in the shoot to show viewers whether a large dining room table will fit, or where a couch might go.Curate the order of your clips carefully and think about the video as a way to take the audience on a tour.Build excitement as you go, adds Salahuddin.'Give people reasons why they would want to come and view the home in person,' says Salahuddin.Remove personal property and jewelry that could tempt a thief. And if a room has crazy wallpaper or a highly personal shrine to some sports team, consider leaving that out altogether.dining table6) Don't forget social mediaYour finished video, once uploaded to YouTube, can be easily submitted to the Multiple Listing Service website for distribution to Realtor.com and other web portals. Then distribute it widely over social media, says Salem, who suggests posting videos to Facebook and Craigslist. Salahuddin also uses LinkedIn and Twitter to help get the word out.7) On a budget? Use still photosIf you lack the budget for a high-quality video, edit photos into a clip that looks great. Kennedy's video, for example, used still photos in a sequence that duplicated walking through the home, starting with external shots leading to the front door.Great stills with a slow zoom into the room give viewers just enough time to imagine themselves living there, and it's easy to do with drag-and-drop programs such as Apple's iMovie (free) or CyberLink PowerDirector 11 (about $50). These programs also let you import music from an MP3 file, and provide a voice over — nice flourishes to give your video a touch of class.(The writer is a Reuters contributor.)(Editing by Chelsea Emery and Nick Zieminski)
